Rex is crowned King of Carnival In New Orleans, Rex became the ceremonial figurehead of Mardi Gras. Every year, Rex is appointed and helps set the theme, leads the parade and receives the keys to the city as Carnival takes over.

1972

Popeyes is born in New Orleans, by Al Copeland. Bringing Louisiana chicken to the masses.

2021

Popeyes arrives in the UK. Bringing a little New Orleans flavour, energy and Mardi Gras spirit.

2026

Popeyes Rewards gets its own Mardi Gras Moment to celebrate the launch. We could not bring Rex over. So we created our own title. One Rewards member will be crowned Lord or Lady of Popeyes Rewards and handed the keys to Popeyes.
